This week, Civmec celebrated NAIDOC week, acknowledging the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people for thousands of years. The theme for 2021 – Heal Country! –  called for us all to continue to seek greater protections for our lands, our waters, our sacred sites and our cultural heritage from exploitation, desecration, and destruction.

Civmec greatly values our partnerships with proud indigenous businesses, including the East West Pilbara Group Pty Ltd (EWPG) and Yalagan Group Pty Ltd (Yalagan). EWP Yalagan has been engaged as a subcontractor to Civmec on the Detail Earthworks and Concrete Processing Plant and Infrastructure package of works at Iron Bridge. Personnel range from labourers, trades assistants, cleaners, plant operators, riggers and construction trades, such as carpenters. Of the 22 workers, 17 are Indigenous, with 6 being local Njamal Traditional Owners.
