Jemena was selected by the Northern Territory Government to build, own and operate the NGP. The $800 million pipeline will connect the Northern Territory to the east coast national gas grid, and has been touted as a possible solution to the supposed east coast gas shortage. The pipeline is being built to transport 90 terajoules of gas per day to Mount Isa, and runs through Sandy Warby’s cattle station, Phillip Creek station, which also has the compressor station positioned on it.
The scope of work includes the establishment of an in excess 200-man camp, site civil works, steel fabrication and SMPEI works.
In summary, the packages contain the following equipment:
- Inlet filter coalescer, inlet flow meter and fuel gas skids;
- Residue gas compressors (two off) C50 with aftercoolers;
- Export gas compressors (two off) T60 with aftercoolers;
- Gas Treatment Equipment inclusive of nitrogen removal (GTE);
- Hot oil package;
- Control Room/switchroom;
- Gas Engine Alternator (GEA)
- Instrument air and nitrogen packages;
- Gas Chromatograph;
- Vent system with knockout drums and flare;
- Site office, amenities and workshop; and
- Balance of Plant (BOP) piping, instrumentation, equipment and structures.
With works commenced, the project will require more than 160 personnel to be employed at its peak, with completion scheduled for August 2018.
